It’s time to get out the glitz as the Christmas party season is upon us. The high street is full of styles to choose from, so there’s no excuse not to dress to impress. Read on to find out the answers to some typical festive dressing dilemmas which when approached right, are sure to get you noticed under the mistletoe.
Do I have to wear heels?
To look and feel glamorous, a little heel can make such a difference to an outfit, especially for the party season. Kurt Geiger recently reported that sales of their 12cm plus heels had quadrupled, so any height goes, from a kitten to a skyscraper.
But there’s also a growing movement towards the flat party shoe, which model Alexa Chung has made her thing. Party flats are for the footwear connoisseur – too high heels are a bit “here come the girls”. If you go flat then the rules of sartorial balance say that they must be fancy and embellished. Look for leopard print or a bejewelled toe.
How can I keep warm in the taxi queue?
Faux fur. It’s everyday wear and so close to the real thing that everyone can have a bit of fur glam. Asos.com say that fantasy fur is doing “amazingly well” on its site.
Is it OK to wear red?
For Christmas 2017, red is the colour to make a statement and be remembered. Red says fashion not Santa this year, primarily because it’s been touted as the way to liven up verging-on-boring minimalist looks. Try not to wear it with black, which looks too harsh – wear with navy instead.
What if I don’t want to wear dress?
The posh jumpsuit has momentum this December. Insiders in the fashion industry say that it’s “all about the jumpsuit” again this year and just like the maxi dress, it’s here to stay. The key to the night time jumpsuit is to go for an old-school party fabric, as jersey looks too scruffy. Go for silk, a velvet panel or lace for maximum style points. Wear with a tux jacket and don’t hold back on the costume jewellery.
Can women wear jeans to the office party?
There was a moment a few years ago when wearing jeans to a party was akin to wearing taffeta, that is, massively outdated. Thankfully, that hiatus is over. But the rules have changed. Neat indigo jeans, heels and a glamorous top is better. Making jeans look 2017 party-appropriate means going a bit rock ‘n’ roll and clashing lots of different fabrics and accessories. Choose worn-in jeans, some leopard-print, jewellery, bright shoes and silky tops and wear together. Don’t be minimal and don’t go near diamante.
Whatever your party look this season, have fun and wear it well.

What to wear for a Summer wedding
It’s summer time and that means that wonderful wedding season is upon us.
A wedding is a great time to get dolled up and look your bae best. While, of course, you never want to outshine the bride, you want to look amazing and you could impress that cute usher that you know is single!
Here are some ideas for dressing up for the next summer nuptials you will be attending.
Don’t wear white
Everyone knows the golden rule – DON’T wear white. Unless of course, as Beyonce and Jay Z did for there 2008 wedding in New York and requested all their guests wore white!
This is the perfect time to show off your pedicure with some open toed strappy sandals. You probably don’t want to go with sky-scraper heels though, because weddings can be a long day, although you know your own feet and their limitations. Maybe pop a pair of flip-flops or flats in your bag for when you hit the dance floor later!
If the reception goes until night, it could get a little chilly out. However, you won’t want to carry around a jacket all day. A sleek scarf or pashmina that can fit in your bag is the perfect cover-up for when the temperature drops.
A little tip from the Fuzzy Goose girls – make sure your handbag has a strap. You’ll need somewhere to put your blusher, lippy, cash and phone (don’t forget to put on silent!) – but you’ve only got two hands and there’s nothing more difficult than trying to juggle a drink and canapes with a clutch!
When you’re going to your summer weddings, think about glamourous but tasteful clothing options. The more versatile the better, because you never know what the weather will be like. And remember to add your own personal style!
These tips should help you through the big day – have a brilliant time.

At Fuzzy Goose's most recent fashionable event, a host of local celebrities and big fashion names come together for a glamorous fund raising event for one of Europe’s largest cancer treatment centres.
Hosted by GMTV’s Jenny Powell and Key 103’s Chelsea Norris, Stepping Out for the Christie glamorous retailers including Fuzzy Goose, Forever Unique, Rumpus Resort, & Kiki Minchin Jewellery, graced the catwalk runway and turned fashion into fundraising for the evening.
Guests included Ryan Thomas, Lawrence Jones MBE, Armand Beasley, Miss Galaxy England, Sophie Tozer and British F3 Racing driver Oliver Webb (who also modelled in the show).
The show was arranged and launched by Cheshire based Fuzzy Goose founder Jo Brookes, who is bringing back a tried and tested formula that she has hosted over the past 10 years, with close friend Rachel Mamelok. Jo said: “Over the past 10 years, I have done many fundraising events like this with my good friend Rachel Mamelok. Together, we’re bringing back our fashion show at The Manchester Hallmark Hotel, this time to raise much-needed funds for The Christie, where Rachel is currently undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatment.”
Rachel is being treated for an extremely rare form of breast cancer at the world-renowned hospital. Thanks to funding from donations and events like these, the oncologist treating her had recently been on a conference in America where he learned a new treatment regime for this previously poorly treated and researched form of the disease.
Fuzzy Goose owner added: “Without the funding for this training, Rachel would not have had the opportunity of this type of treatment. Fundraising and donations ensure that The Christie’s medical team have the latest knowledge and skills to treat even the rarest forms of cancer.”
The event raised over £10,000
